1684 BOOK OF MARTYRS complete ACTS MONUMENTS OF MARTYRS bible RARE leather OLD

Description: This Bible is one of a few higher end Bibles/books I will be posting that are in need of repair. I will be restoring these as I have time and re-listing them after restoration. They may not be listed in this condition for very long depending on how fast I can work through the pile. I know many collectors have a preferred bookbinder to rebind their books, so I'm listing these in case another collector is interested in restoring them themselves or with their preferred restoration service. 1684 Acts and Monuments of Matters Most Special and Memorable Happening in the Church With An Universal History of the same ... Mr. John Fox ... The ninth Edition ... London: Printed for the Company of Stationers Complete 3 volume set. Each volume measures around 15.5" tall. Volume 1: Binding looks like it could be original, but someone has placed a handwritten label on the spine. Board is tattered on edges and leather has peeled back around edges. Has some creased and torn pages. Pages are mostly bright throughout. Title page has some tracing to letters. Volume 2: Suede leather binding, similar to what you would see in the mid 1700s. Both covers detached. Front cover is mismatched. Some tattering around edges of title page and first pages. After rebinding this will be a nice clean volume. Volume 3: This one looks like it was in an old 3/4 leather binding. Both covers detached. Bookplate of John Field. This one has nice unique marbled endsheets. When this set is restored, the endsheets should be preserved for another book. This copy has had some page repairs. Page edges are red. Following restoration, this set will make an excellent addition to someone's collection! It's nice when you can bring 3 odd volumes of the same work back together and restore them into a complete set. Especially with a printing this rare and old.
