With a trace of wear and old envelope toning. Presented with old collector's envelope (with annotated one shilling and sixpence purchase price). O: * BOROUGH OF GATESHEAD * BOUNDARY TOKEN Borough arms with crest above.R: PERAMBULATION 24TH MAY 1849 around a beaded circle. In centre GEOE HAWKS etc. This token is listed in Withers, The Token Book 3 as W.2697 and in Davis & Waters, Tickets & Passes of Great Britain & Ireland as D&W 302/22. I would grade this token Extremely Fine (Sheldon AU58) but I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
