1913, Robert Louis Stevenson A Bookman Extra Number, 1st Ed, LEATHER REBIND, VG

Description: This is a very nice leather rebind of a book published in 1913 by Hodder & Stoughton in both a softback and hardback condition, neither of which can be found in very good condition online. I don't know when this FULL LEATHER REBIND WAS DONE, but the previous owner had initials J.B.T. The rebind has undergone some repair adding leather to the top and bottom of the spine and solidifying binding at the front and endpapers, and with binding paper in several gutters mostly at the end of the book. The leather was stained, and this staining resulted in a little bit of color bleeding into the binding and the page edges at the binding for a number of pages at the last 1/3 or so of this book. An example of this slight bleeding onto pages is seen in the last two listing photo. There are floral endpapers, very clean pages, no interior marks, glossy and regular pages throughout. Now very solidly bound and clean with the treatment of the leather boards. 208 clean and solidly bound pages. THIS CHARMING BOOK HIGHLIGHTS THE CAREER OF ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON IN A SERIES OF ARTICLES BY DIFFERENT AUTHORS AND A LARGE WEALTH OF ILLUSTRATIONS AND PHOTOS. These illustrations were examples from his books and there were also a smattering of photographs of Stevenson himself. There were illustrations in color and B&W, all on glossy pages. Examples of chapters include: Books which Influenced Me by RLS himself, The Apprenticeship of Robert Louis Stevenson by SR Crockett, Robert Louis Stevenson : A Reminiscence by Charles Lowe, and so on. The original hardback had a slightly different title as compared to the title shown on the title page: Robert Louis Stevenson, The Man & His Work, A Bookman Extra Number 1913. BB13
