Description: 1923 Gibson "The Gibson" Model L-1. I purchased this guitar years ago as a Vintage Gibson Collector. This guitar was owned by the fantastic musician M Ward and was used on various recordings on his early albums. This is one of the best, playable Gibson L-1 guitars I have ever seen. It plays beautifully. I can provide a video of it being played or can answer any questions for this rare Gibson L1. The guitar does have a repaired humidity crack along the top-sides and through the heel of the neck (please see pictures.) The repair is solid and does not effect playability or tuning. There has also been a pick-up installed inside the guitar that is drilled through the end-jack, which sounds really nice when plugged in, and we guess is a Fishman 'Matrix' pick-up. There is some wear on this guitar, but nothing extraordinary for a guitar 101 years old. This L-1 is the arch-top version, which plays really nice, the neck is in good condition, the frets seem to be the original frets which have plenty of life and plays consistent up the neck. The guitar has the original "Patented July 1919" trapeze tailpiece, beefy British-Honduras mahogany neck, non-original black button (older Kluson(?) tuners, and comes with a hard-shell case.
