It is illustrated with hundreds of small, black and white drawings throughout the text. This large volume is bound in a buttery-colored, beige cloth. The boards are still strong with slightly bent corners. The cloth wrapper has been rubbed, and the text is no longer legible on the front cover or spine. This very thick binding is still sound with all pages securely bound. The binding is in remarkable shape for its age and size, although there are no endpapers present, which makes me think that the binding may have been repaired at some point. The book opens up to the title page and frontispiece as the first pages. The pages seem to be clean and free of markings. There are no rips, tears, or missing pages. This volume is still extraordinarily square and tight for it’s age and sheer weight. The 1,200+ pages include the alphabetical thumb tab indents along the page edges for easy searches! It measures approximately 10” tall by 7” wide. This enormous volume measures nearly 3.5” thick and weighs over 5 pounds! Please look at pictures for condition - excellent condition for 88 years old.
