The label is hand signed by Michael Reagan, son of President Ronald Reagan. Generally, when a hoard is discovered by the Mint, the coins are immediately melted down. However, due to the high demand for precious metals in 2020, the U.S. Mint decided to release these exclusive coins instead of melting them down. To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the American Eagle program, the 2016 edition has a lettered edge with the words "30th Anniversary." The obverse of the coin depicts Adolph A. Weinman's full-length figure of Liberty in stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. The reverse, designed by John Mercanti, shows a heraldic eagle with shield, an olive branch in the right talon and arrows in the left.
