The album showcases a lacquered wood cover with intricate silver, bone and mother-of-pearl design and features 72 hand-colored postcards depicting scenes from Yokohama in 1909. The postcards are in excellent condition and offer a glimpse into the past with their vivid colors and detailed imagery. Hardcover 14”x10.5” album containing 72 hand-colored postcards. Black lacquer boards; front board illustrated with a scene of a peacock and flowers made of bone and mother-of-pearl with silver border. None of the postcards have been used and none have dates of publication. Some of the cards were produced by Tonboya in Yokohama; the firm was actively publishing hand-colored postcards from about 1910 to about 1930. The hand-colored views are of streets scenes, temples, and parks in Yokohama, Tokyo, Toshogu, Tokio, Zushi, Nikki, Kioto and more; a number include geishas.
