There may be some flattening of the inside edge (trains run on the inside edge of the tracks), but I strive to have the best available, with the most mass still intact. 12" rail is 45 lbs and ships to you via USPS for $26.00 freight. Ships anywhere in the US. Each Rail sections cost $26. to ship. Multiple rails purchased require their own individual shipping charge. I am a one person operation and I have been shipping only once or twice weekly. The post office has been slow with a couple of shipments lately, so contact me first and bear with them and allow them to get things delivered. These are cut by the supplier, so I have no control if its length is off a fraction of an inch. They are usually spot on. I do also keep 4", 6", for workbench use, jewelry use, and leather working, mechanical hammer builds. See those size listing. There is surface rust that is easily removed, as per the pics, with a wire wheel. A flapper wheel will polish it like a mirror. Wire wheel and oil works for many users. Thank you for looking!
