Description: The Denton Collection: Sherman Foote Denton drew 103 different fish for the State of New York Forest, Fish and Game Commission between 1895 and 1906. Mr. Denton, who grew up in Wellesley, MA, was a self-taught naturalist and artist. Prints of his colored drawings have long been sought by collectors and to this day are considered to be unrivaled in beauty and accuracy of detail. These reproductions of the original Denton chromolithographs were published and printed in Connecticut by the Connecticut River Publishing Company. They are unframed, limited edition, numbered prints on archival-quality, acid-free paper and have been stored in a moisture-controlled environment. This is the common brook trout of Europe, and it has been named Von Behr Trout, by the United States Fish Commission.
