Description: A tale of two conditions....the cover is beat up pretty good. The front has some damage/scarring while the back has a little scarring and a few small smudges. The spine has a little bit of scarring, unfortunately it has eradicated the letter "T" in the author's last name (see photos). The inside pages are in phenomenal shape. There is a date and signature from 1901 from a previous owner, along with a used book store price on an introductory page. Only a small smudge on the perimeter of the page for a few pages. Other than that, pristine...no markings, no notes, no underlining, no scrawlings. Binding is tight and pages are semi-stiff, gilding on the top of the pages. Empire Edition by New York Publishing Company. No specific printing date is stated but with the previous owner's notation of 1901, I'm classifying it as late 1800s to 1900. If you like this book, I have another George Eliot book for sale in a similar condition. Cover is not as in as bad a shape as this one, but is a little rough around the edges, yet inside is pristine, binding tight, early 1900s.
