Description: This beautiful linen Madeira-style tablecloth came with 12 16.5" linen napkins, all hand-embroidered with cutwork. The original owner had an uncle who had some connections in China right after WWII. Western European Catholic nuns introduced this style of embroidery (from the Portuguese island of Madeira) to the Chinese people as part of their missionary activities a century earlier. China expelled all missionaries in the early 1950s. These were probably made right after the war - there is a Made in China sticker on the still-attached-by-threads napkins. The tablecloth is unused/unlaundered also - it measures 66" wide and 102" long. I do not have a table that could accommodate it so took photos of both ends and the edges. I see some light storage stains - these had been stored in a Chinese carved camphor chest for many years. I see no other problems.SHIPPING Ground Advantage and Priority are the same weight just because the Priority boxes are lighter in weight than the boxes I use for Ground. If you pay for Ground, this set will be wrapped in 2 large poly bags. Priority will ship in a Priority box. Feel free to ask any unanswered questions and thanks for stopping by.
