Description: This is way out of my usual zone as I don't usually deal in wood pieces, but whoever is looking at this should be able to evaluate it better than I can! This is a carved wood bowl with a foot/ pedestal and I don't have a clue as to the origin. I don't see any seams so it appears to be all one piece. It seems to be made of some sort of tropical wood, or coconut, maybe? It measures 5 3/4" across the top opening and 4" tall. It has a gorgeous patina with all different shades of brown and lots of cracks and grooves in the wood itself...not the kind from injury, but clearly natural to the type of wood. The exterior is a bit smoother than the interior but it doesn't appear that anything has been applied to it to make it that way. There are a couple of white marks on the side (see photo #3) which appear to be some sort of scratches. Finally, it came in an estate sale lot from an elderly couple and most of their belongings were mid-20th century vintage so I would guess it was likely purchased some time around then. Anyway, this bowl is very pretty and if you like wood pieces or your decor has a tropical flair, I think you would really like it. Please feel free to ask me any questions that may help you evaluate it.
