Description: This is a great one for the design library. IKEA's take on the Constructivist or Bauhaus aesthetic. Or does it hearken back to Italian minimalism of the 1960s? This is impossible to find elsewhere. I don't even remember the Swedish name that was assigned to it. I'm thinking it came out before the turn of the Millennium. Or it could have been at the very beginning of it. It just boggles my mind that this design has completely disappeared from the internet and its various vintage designs sales sites. I believe the material is polypropylene. It snaps together along the "petals" which then fit onto the hub. I don't believe any tools are needed to assemble this, although i'm not sure. I'm about ninety-five percent sure though. If you would prefer I mail this assembled, please inquire at time of purchase or beforehand. It might bump the shipping up a little if sent assembled. It's a pretty easy assembly. It works fine and takes an easily findable bulb. There are visible shadows from small creases throughout. You could see that as part of the aesthetic or you could play "Ikea hacker" and cover this with translucent paper or art. Apologies that I did not get a chance to clean the interior. If it is shipped disassembled, I will do that before sending. This is about 38 inches in height. And the diameter is 11 inches at widest. (The unalterable length triggers the postal upcharge on this.) If you are a collector of ultra-rare designs, here is your huckleberry.
