Description: We are selling this vintage 1986 Foltz Pottery slipware bowl signed by C. N. Foltz with a folk art house design and with sponged and crimped edges. This bowl is in excellent condition- there are no chips or cracks. Redware pottery is the oldest form of pottery made by the early German settlers in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and continues today using the local red clays. Foltz began in 1962 and has grown into one of the most popular folk potteries in the United States. From three generations of craftsmen, they have revived many old forms and techniques, including sgrafitto and slipware, both early forms of decorating redware. All Foltz pottery is made using 200-year-old PA German traditional methods except for the glaze, which is lead-free and can be used with food. Redware pottery cannot withstand drastic changes in temperature, but plates can be used for baking by wetting the back of the pottery to warm and make it less susceptible to temperature changes. The pottery will withstand dishwasher use. The back of the pottery should always be air dried before stacking. We represent our items to the best of our ability in photos and descriptions. Please look at our photos carefully, read our description completely, and ask any and all questions prior to buying from us. We will ship this bowl to you via USPS Ground Advantage Mail or USPS Priority Mail- your choice! Thank you for looking at our listing and have a great day:)
